Photoshop Elements 8 Collage
Alternate Blog Post Title: "Lying in my bed thoughts running through my head..."
If I was starting out today learning how to use my computer for scrapbooking which software would I choose?
Photoshop CS4 with all its bells and whistle or Elements 8 the one designed with the end user in mind?
Considerations
Price:
- Hundreds of dollars (P CS4)
- Hundred ish dollars (PSE 8)
Edit:
- All powerful editing features but you really need to know what you are doing as no guided help editing.(P CS4)
- Full, Quick and Guided editing modes so best of both worlds here.(PSE 8)
(Full-with all the advanced editing features for the I know all this already type user.)
(Quick/Guided edit mode for the help I'm only a beginner give me a step by step walk through of how to do this type user.)
Create:
- For the digital designer many advanced features for creating elements and page kits from scratch but for the beginner just starting out with the design process no additional themes etc to work from.( P CS4)
- For the beginner you have many options for creating a page(create tab) were you just drag and drop your photos into various theme templates (see example at start of post). (PSE 8)
As you get more experienced you can create a page from scratch using the many backgrounds, graphics, frames, shapes and text which come preloaded with the software.
You can of course use the themes which are provided and then customize them to your hearts content providing you with a bountiful supply of inspiration.
Just starting out I would say pick elements 8 and if you already have elements and are wondering if to upgrade to this version let me just say two things Photomerge and Recompose, pretty cool features check them out for yourself and let me know what you think. :)
Cheers
