I wanted to create a scrapbook page of the summer vacation, so I decided I would show you the steps I use for creating a layout, this is step 1 getting the photographs ready that I want to use.

Step One - Correct the Photograph.

This photograph was a little dark and also had a lot of distracting objects in the background.

Before the photo could go on a scrapbook page I need to make the following improvements.


1.Crop out a lot of the background.


2.Correct the lighting and add a blur to the background.


3.I added a border to the photo and some text for interest.

Today I wanted to show you an example of a note card I created by changing a digital photo into a blank note card using Digital Scrapbooking techniques.


My husband took the photograph of the Rocks when we were visiting Martha's Vineyard over the summer, I thought it would make a great blank note card.


You can create many different cards with your software for example Birthday Cards, Christmas Cards, Birth Announcement cards the possibilities are endless, the example below is just one example of cards you can create.


I find Blank Note Cards so useful to have around the house when you need to send a quick note to family or friends and how much better to send out one you have created yourself - Priceless?

I was following along today with Matt Kloskowski in his new book Layers, and wow what a book, it has everything you could possibly want to know about layers and more in short simple tutorials.  You can download his photographs to follow along with each tutorial or use your own photographs, I used his first to try out the effect then I used three of mine and have included the end result  below.

Today I have posted my latest digital scrapbooking design, I just love this photo and decided to make it into a digital scrapbooking page.  Using photoshop makes digital scrapbooking easy and fun, you can create great pages in very little time with great results.  I found a great site tonoodle which provides Photoshop video tutorials that show you how to transform your digital photography into digital scapbooking works of art using Adobe Photoshop.  Take a look if you get a chance and would like to learn the Art of Digital Scrapbooking using Adobe Photoshop.

Well Yesterday I created a Halloween Card using one of my daughters so I thought it was only fair to try and create another with my youngest daughter.  I am very much in the learning stage with Adobe Photoshop CS3 and I am trying to practice each day if I can, anyone know of any good tutorials or have links to examples they have created then please leave a link in the comments above, any help would be greatly appreciated.  Remember just click on the photo to see a larger version of the photograph.

Today I decided to try an effect for a Halloween card, I was trying to create a ghost figure drifting over the card and partly obscuring the text.

Today I wanted to try and create a Thank You card.  I decided to use a photo from my sister-in-law's wedding, I always loved the casual nature of this photo and thought it would make a great note card to send as a Thank you note for gifts from a wedding.  I left the white space for a personal message.  I forgot to say yesterday that if you want to see a larger version of the photo's just click on them.  If you want to look at all the Design Effects cards in one place just click on the Design Effects in the Categories section on the right of this page.  Again thanks for looking and feel free to leave any comments or suggestions.

Today I have been working on some design ideas for note cards.  I think the art of letter writing has all but died out over the years, which is a shame as it is always great to receive a letter or note in the post.  I thought I would try and design note cards or post cards on this site, that I would like to send out.  This one is of my daughter dreaming, what do you think?
