scrapbook paper by the sheet
When you have an idea for a page or a thinking of creating a card sometimes all you require is scrapbook paper by the sheet...

If I don't want to buy a whole kit but want to create something from scratch, I start out by creating a single sheet of scrapbook paper.

The design above I created by following these steps:
1. Create and define a pattern in Photoshop
2. Make a new document (the size you require) I used 12 in x 7 in at 300dpi
3. Choose a background color then add pattern overlay (using layer styles)
4. Play with the blend modes till I find one I like
5. Save my creation as a psd so I can use as a template for other papers.

So next time you want just a single sheet of paper for a project consider starting from scratch and design your own background using the define a pattern option in Photoshop.

canvas prints from digital photos
canvas prints from digital photos
Yesterday I was following along with a Photoshop tutorial to create the collage above, using blending layers and various design effects.

I wanted to tell you about an offer on another blog of mine which tells of how you can get canvas prints from digital photos for free.

Remember when you were a kid and went to Spain for your holidays?

There was always a sister hotel to yours that had all the better facilities and you could use them for free because you were staying at the sister hotel to it.

Well that's like my collage picture frames blog, that's my sister blog to Groobers Gallery.  That's where you can discover various frames for your photographs or scrapbook creations, to get them up there and out on display.

So if you are interested in receiving canvas prints from digital photos for free you should head on over to my sister blog. ;)

Cheers,
Sue

P.S.

That sister hotel where you can find frames to proudly display all your creations in is over at collage picture frames by the way the waters just fine. :)

digital photo scrapbook
digital photo scrapbook
Today I decided it was time to get back to basics I love photography and creating with my photos, so I have started a new category on Groobers Gallery blog called digital photo scrapbook.

What's Inside my digital photo scrapbook?
Well the answer to this is any photographs or creations I have made that I am most proud of the ones that have made it into my to print folder.

Photo projects are always on the go on my laptop but most of them do not get printed, either I share them on my posterous blog, flickr page or tweet about them on twitter, but the ones in my digital photo scrapbook category are the ones destined for print. :-)

Cheers,

I wanted to share a mastermind group I joined a few days ago, and why I decided to join.

For a while now I have been receiving quality information in the form of a weekly newsletter by Lynn Terry of Click Newz! It provides me with ideas, tips and reviews to help me succeed with my online business.

Lynn also hosts a weekly FREE webinar which you can listen to, ask questions on, and/or have your site critiqued.

After attending my first webinar I decided there and then that this was a community I could really benefit from joining and hopefully as my skill sets continue to grow be able also to contribute to.

Here's a few reasons why I joined a paid membership/brainstorm group

A Place To Ask Questions

I wanted a place I could ask questions any number of them without feeling a complete and utter idiot.

Somewhere to share information and know for sure that no one would use or take my ideas.

A Place To Get Answers

Being able to get timely answers to my questions from Group Leaders and other Elite Members.

Example

My first question I asked was answered by Lynn herself (as well as other members within the group) with helpful one on one actionable steps for me to take away and implement on my website to help improve it.

A Place Full Of Helpful Resources

Along with all the quality information I wanted a place that would share exclusive resources, I found it, group leaders and members freely share information not available to the general pubic here.

A Place To Keep Me Focused And On Task

Having a group of like minded people keeping me accountable and on task (giving me a kick in the right direction when necessary.) ;)

A safe place to Brainstorm, ask questions, get answers, share resources, what more could a girl want or ask for?

Creative Ideas + Unique Perspectives = Increased Profits!
Are You A Self-Starter In Need Of A Brainstorming Group?
Then, here's the link to my brainstorm group .

When creating Baby Photo Cards with your software one option is to make birth announcement cards which you can post to all your family and friends.  The reasons for making your own cards or buying cards created by someone else are as follows:

a) they are a personal personalized treasure rather than a mass produced product bought from the store.

b) If you create the template yourself you can decide the number of photos to include, the layout styles, fonts etc and oftentimes when buying from someone else they will also let you make these choices.

Baby Photo Cards - Decisions

First decide what style of Baby Photo Cards you would like to create.

Things to consider when planing your template are the size you want to print out, and the number of photographs you would like displayed.  If using scrapbook papers to decorate your template remember you can re color your papers to suit the card you are designing.

Secondly decide the quantity of cards you are thinking of sending out, as this may determine whether you print them out yourself or if instead you send them to a print lab.

Make Your Own or Buy Baby Photo Cards?

Of course this will depend on whether or not you own software that lets you create templates via layers or not.  Also if you have the time to devote to designing your own cards otherwise a great option is to purchase cards that someone else has made from scratch for you.

That's the joy of someone else doing the work - you can get the personal touch of a handcrafted item without all the time and effort required to produce one of your own.

So, where can I buy Baby Photo Cards?
One option for buying handcrafted items is zazzle they provide many Baby Photo Cards designed by many different digital artists like the example above which I think is a beautiful stylish template.

Make your own or buy handcrafted it's the way to go...

Computer Scrapbooking Camera Girl
Computer Scrapbooking Camera Girl
Last week I was following along with the tutorial series by Ali Edwards...

I really enjoyed the experience and loved the clean crisp appearance of her scrapbook page.

When it comes to doing a page I like the main focus of course to be the photograph...

I have never been keen on too many embellishments on the page, and to be honest have never put much journaling on my digital pages, relying mainly on my photos to tell the story.

Encouraged by Ali's template tutorial I decided to try and add some text to my photos this time.

I'm pleased with the result and wanted to thank Ali for helping me out of my comfort zone...

There's a girl...

A girl I know.

She takes her camera with her everywhere she goes.

It's plain and simple.

I love that girl.
